How it works

Six steps, no surprises, nothing charged automatically

The order below is the order it happens in. The important parts are steps two and three: your website is reviewed by a person before anything is agreed, and if it is not a good fit you are told so and never invoiced.

01

About 1 minute

You apply

The form asks for your website, what kind of site it is, your name, business name, email and the plan you want. One optional note if there is something we should know. It takes about a minute, and there is no card field anywhere on this site.

02

Usually 2–4 working days

We review your site by hand

Not a score, not an automated crawl. We read your live pages the way a customer would, look at how you appear in search, and form a view on whether there is genuine value for you in the programme. This is the part that means not every application is accepted.

03

No charge unless accepted

You hear back either way

If we can help, you receive an email confirming that, with an invoice attached for the plan you selected. If we cannot, you receive an email saying so, with the reason. Declined applications are never invoiced and nothing is charged.

04

PayPal only

You pay by PayPal invoice

The invoice is issued through PayPal to the address you applied with. Pay it through PayPal in the normal way, using whatever funding you prefer. We never see or store your card or bank details.

05

First report within a week of payment

Your first review begins

The first report takes longer than the rest, because we are building a picture of your site from nothing. After that, reports arrive the same day each week, each one building on what we established the week before.

06

Cancel any time on monthly

It continues, week after week

That is the whole service. There is no second phase to buy and no upgrade conversation. If you want to stop, you email us and the subscription simply runs to the end of the period you have paid for.

What you need

Less than you would expect

One of the more common assumptions is that we will ask for access to your website, your analytics, or your hosting. We do not, and on this form we never will.

Start the application
  • A live website. Publicly reachable, so there is something real to review. A site in staging cannot be measured against search.
  • An email address we can reach you at. This is how both the decision and every report reaches you.
  • No analytics access. Not required to apply, and not requested through this form at any point. If access would sharpen a specific recommendation later, we will ask then — and you can decline.
  • No Search Console access. Everything we need at the review stage is publicly visible. Again, we never ask for it here.
  • Nobody to implement changes. Not a requirement. We write recommendations so that an owner can make simple edits, and flag the ones that need a developer.

Before you apply

Three questions worth answering for yourself

Not a qualification test. Just the three things that decide whether a subscription is money well spent in your situation.

Is one enquiry worth the subscription?

If a single extra customer a month is worth more than $100, the arithmetic works before we start. If it is not, this is probably the wrong spend.

Will anyone act on the recommendations?

You, or someone you can ask. Reports that nobody implements are an expensive newsletter, and we would rather tell you that now.

Can you wait a quarter for the compounding?

The first reports are useful. The tenth is where the site is visibly better, because it knows nine weeks of context. If you need a fix this week, a developer is faster.

Anything still unclear?

The FAQ covers the common questions, including what happens if a recommendation turns out to be wrong. If your question is not there, the contact page reaches a person.
